Making space for interior design

After several months of verbal tussling between the Nomad powers that be and those in Construction Online we have finally been allowed onto their database!   Construction Online is a professional register which many institutions etc use to find recommendations for good practitioners in the built environment.   The service provides details of a wealth of  professionals from architecture through to service engineers and you must have excellent references from previous clients to be considered.   However when we tried to join we were told we could not as we were not members of RIBA.   The problem is that RIBA does not allow interior designers membership (neither would we expect them to) However given the level of qualifications of our team, (mostly 1st class – some at post-grad level not to mention our depth of experience)  We found this caveat a little frustrating and resolved to challenge it.

We submitted some fabulous references from University of Bristol, Glasgow University and others along with our qualifications and they examined our case.  We are delighted that they subsequently uploaded us to the register.   We are currently the only interior designers listed on the CO register and looking forward to finding out what happens next.
