Fence Art

We have been working with the patients and doctors of Rutland Medical Practice for nearly a year now and things are really begining to come together on site.  In addition to the interior we were also commissioned to design a fence which would incorporate art in some way.  The fence is a palisade fence with a paint finish.  The Y shaped ‘Branches’  are galvanised to memorialise the industrial past of the site which used to house a galvanizing plant which was part of the ship building industry.   The shape of the branches is derived from the trees felled to make way for the centre and they are intended to symbolize the growth and strength of the community who have used the centre since the 1940’s.  In addition to the fence a number of pieces have been produced by a local artist from the wood retrieved from the felled trees.  We were sent pictures by the Blacksmith last week and it is begining to look very exciting.  Can’t wait to see the final install which should be in place for September this year.
