Stobhill Hospital Dementia Project

Last year we collaborated with Young & Gault architects on Rutland Medical practice in the South Side of Glasgow.  This year we were delighted when Y&G recommended us to help create specialist interior and graphic installations in new dementia wards they have designed at Stobhill Hospital

Stobhill Hospital want these new wards to be exemplars of good practice and our team have had to go back to school a little to absorb some of the detail design issues that we must be sensitive to.   We are creating, among other things, a memory wall and landmarks upon a wander path.  The memory wall and landmarks will contain images and objects from both domestic and industrial backgrounds spanning over the last 40 years.  This will help visitors and staff to have some common points of discussion with patients.

According to figures reported by the Alzheimer’s Society one in three people will die with some form of dementia so we are very enthusiastic to be working for a client who is making such a big contribution.  The wards are due for completion early next year and we will hopefully be able to post an update then
