Better Library & Learning Space

Old Friend and long time Nomad mentor Les Watson recently published an extensive collection of papers about the design of libraries and learning spaces and we were delighted to be asked to contribute. The book is split into three sections, Part 1 – Projects and trends describe projects from across the globe. Part 2 – Trends and ideas examines current ideas in library space development and the various contextual, technological and digital influences which are impacting on this and part 3 Ideas and futures looks at future spaces and includes contributions form librarians, learning specialists, architects, academics and ours selves.

Our chapter explores the impact of our user centred approach and the current trend towards more participatory methods of design. It also highlights the notions of identity, culture and community and explains the importance of expressing these with a new scheme.

The book is titled, ‘Better Library & Learning Space: Projects, Trends and Ideas’ and it is published by Facet. You can obtain a copy from the RIBA bookshop here,
