HFS Design Excellence Award

We first collaborated with Young and Gault Architects on Rutland Surgery in the South Side of Glasgow in 2012. Following this Y&G recommended us to the NHS to collaborate on the refurbishment of wards 45 and 46 at Stobhill General Hospital.Their goal was to create 2 state of the art wards designed to provide accommodation for Old People with Dementia and Adults with Mental health problems and our role was to generate designs for bespoke furniture and environmental graphics in the public spaces. The main features we created are a memory wall and landmarks, which punctuate a wander path. Both of which are designed make memorable spaces which assist with patients navigation and provide a stimulus for interaction between patient, visitors and staff. The wards were completed in spring 2014 and we were delighted to learn in December that they had been nominated for and won the prestigious Design Excellence Award at the Health Facilities Scotland Awards. Our congratulations to Y&G and our clients at Stobhill and many thanks for allowing us to be involved in such an fabulous and fascinating project.
